Step Into a Mountain Tradition at the Little Switzerland Square Dance

Looking for an authentic mountain experience this summer? Spend your Saturday evening at the historic Geneva Hall in Little Switzerland, where a beloved tradition has been bringing locals and visitors together for generations. Every Saturday night in July and August from 8–10 PM, Geneva Hall comes alive with the sound of live mountain music, laughter, and dancing.

Since 1928, these community square dances have welcomed everyone—from seasoned dancers to first-time visitors looking to experience a true Blue Ridge tradition.

Don't know how to square dance? That's perfectly okay. Friendly callers and experienced dancers are there to guide you every step of the way, making it easy for anyone to join the fun. Just wear comfortable clothes, bring your enthusiasm, and get ready to swing your partner! The evening also features a classic cake walk, where you can try your luck at taking home a homemade dessert—a sweet tradition that's just as much a part of the night as the dancing itself.

Admission is just $6 (cash only), making it one of the best values for a memorable night in the mountains. Whether you're visiting Mitchell County for the weekend or looking to experience the heart of Appalachian culture, the Little Switzerland Square Dance offers more than just entertainment—it's a chance to become part of a tradition that has connected generations through music, storytelling, and community.
