The Diamondback

Tucked into the mountains of Western North Carolina, North Carolina Highway 226A—better known as The Diamondback—is one of the most exhilarating driving experiences in the Southeast. Stretching between Marion and Little Switzerland, this iconic two-lane mountain road has become a bucket-list ride for motorcyclists and a favorite proving ground for sports car enthusiasts.

In just 12 miles, The Diamondback delivers more than 190 curves, each one tighter, steeper, and more thrilling than the last. From sweeping S-turns to sharp, technical hairpins, the road climbs nearly 2,000 feet in elevation as it winds its way up Grassy Mountain toward the Blue Ridge Parkway. The result is a dynamic, ever-changing drive that demands focus—and rewards it with unmatched excitement.
