Quilt Trail

Toe River Canoe Trail
The TRCT runs 37 miles down the N.Toe River from Riverside Park in Spruce Pine to Poplar. The trail travels through Class I, II, and III rapids, passing primarily through undeveloped forest and farmland. There are scenic views of mountains, rapids, and valleys. You can spot many different types of wildlife along the way like blue herons, ducks, harks, turtles, and so much more! The trail offers river access points at regular intervals along the trail, usually at a bridge.

The Diamondback
Tucked into the mountains of Western North Carolina, North Carolina Highway 226A—better known as The Diamondback—is one of the most exhilarating driving experiences in the Southeast. Stretching between Marion and Little Switzerland, this iconic two-lane mountain road has become a bucket-list ride for motorcyclists and a favorite proving ground for sports car enthusiasts.
In just 12 miles, The Diamondback delivers more than 190 curves, each one tighter, steeper, and more thrilling than the last. From sweeping S-turns to sharp, technical hairpins, the road climbs nearly 2,000 feet in elevation as it winds its way up Grassy Mountain toward the Blue Ridge Parkway. The result is a dynamic, ever-changing drive that demands focus—and rewards it with unmatched excitement.
